Railway Garden Tour in Bloomfield Township and Staging What do they have in Common

Now who could pass up a model train set up in a back yard?   Hundreds of feet of track, dozens of buildings and all the towns people to go with it.

Take a tour of the set up with me and see how similar it is to staging.

Bloomfield Twp Railway Garden Tour  This caught my attention in the local free newspaper that delivered to all residences in many cities.  I love it for a quick review of what's going on.

My husband and I thought it was such an interesting thing to do, on a July (hot & muggy) Sunday morning, and we could walk to it and enjoy a few minutes.

To our surprise the few minutes turned into about an hour or more.

It similar to  going into a Sunday Realtor Open House thinking that you'll have a quick walk through and then actually looking through every room, crook and cranny that it has.

The Dunn family:  Sharron, Bob two sons, daughter in laws and grandkids were all participating in this event.

The Dunn family took days and weeks to prepare for the annual event.  Very Similar to what sellers have to do to prepare for their day in the sun.

The Dunn family  checks for winter damage to the tracks and landscaping.

Stage-Show-Sell, LLC gives the home street appeal.

They make sure that the tiniest details are taken care of.  The tracks work, the trains work, the emergency helicopters are in place (you have to look at the photos to find them). The bathing pond is clean and fresh and all the models and show ready.

Stage-Show-Sell, LLC  makes sure the windows are clean, outdated light fixtures replaced and the house clean and fresh and furniture shows off the rooms to their best use.

We have a lot in common. Grab a cup of coffee and  Check the Photos of Dunn's Diversion

Is it that much different that what Stage-Show-Sell, LLC does?  Click here to see

Two grandparents, one 12 year old grandson with a Camera at the Detoit Z00

Spring has sprung for at least a few days in Michigan and our gradson had a few days off of school.  He loves being outside and loves the zoo.  This was such a perfect day for a visit.

Thining he might get a little bored, silly me, I gave him the camera to document our day.

Below and the vidoes he took.  We also created a video from all the photos.  We had fun ----he had fun---- and he learned how to post to youtube and create movies.   Couldn't have been a better day.

This bear was really annoyed with the workmen. The polar bear exhibit is one of the best in the country. We walk thru a tube and the bears swim all around us.

We took a couple hundred photos and they are the ones we thought the best. The seals are in the same exhibit with the Polar Bears

The snow fox kept us busy for at lest 20 minutes. They were so frisky.

What's so special about March 12, 1945

What so special about March 12, 1945?

Elaine Virgina Hemmingsen was brought into this world elaine virginai hemmingsen tatseos

Today March 12, 2009 we, my husband and myself, celebratred my birthday.

We spent the afternoon at the Motor City Casino in Detroit.  The experience re=affirmed my believe that I'll never get rich gambling.  I'll make my living helping the families of those who have passed away.

We had dinner at Bistro Bordeau  in Auburn Hills.  This, to me, is the best restaurant in the country.  I've traveled the country and the world and to me this is the finest food at the most affordable price.

The atmosphere is so pleasant, the food is wonderful and the staff goes out of their way to make the meal wonderful.

Kipp Bordeau is the owner and cook and his wife will often be seen escorting diners to their table.

Bisto Bordeau seems to be fine in this economy.  While others are closing around us BB is still there.

Support this restaurant if you live or are visiting in this area.

Happy Birthday to me.  The best in a long time

Very serious question to ask your Doctor, Dentist and

Very serious question to ask your Doctor, Denitst and every professional that you deal with.

This is a question for the financial health of us all.

Ask them what kind of car are they driving.  Are they driving a US product.

I asked my doctor this week and he was very proud to say he drove a Lincoln.   He will continue to drive american cars because he knows where his bread is buttered.   The autobile industry has had, in the past, the best insurance.

My CPA drives a US product.

Tomorrow I'll ask my dentist.  I have no problems asking anyone who gets my business.

When GM is talking about bankrupcy that effects ALL OF US and not just Michigan.

How protected is your data?

For years and years I've backed up my data.  I've backed up to floppy drives (what a silly name), to zip drives, then to CD and then DVD.

I want my data protected.  A DVD in my office and a back up DVD in the safe in the basement.  All my files from 15 years of Real Estate and personal records have been backed up this way.

Amazed at learning that a regular DVD is only good for 2-5 years I've backed them up again to Gold DVD that are good for 100 years.  These I purchased from Fear Not Computers.  I always gave copies of the closing documents to my clients on DVD or CD so they would ALWAYS have a copy around.

How many of you are relying on DVDs to back up your photos, papers and emails ( yes every email from my clients) not knowing that the life span is so short?

I take hundreds of photos for every project that I'm now Orchestrating.  There are pictures of the before, during and after.   The clients copy will go on a Gold DVD and my computer will now get backed up electronically every day.

P.S.  I'm so greatful the Fear Not Compters (owned by my son) keeps me up to date on security and back up news and information.

Stager, Title Company, Lenders, Virtual Assistant, October afternoon Crack House

What do all these occupations have in common with October and a crack house?

Yesterday about 30 of us met to tear down a house in Detroit.

This is the third weekend for this house and the only one that I participated in.

The first weekend (all volunteers) the took off the roof and top structure.

Last week they collapsed the house

This weekend we tore our the remaining sectons and disposed of everything that we could.

They day started about 8:30 with strong men smashing and tearing out the house.

Wish I had their strength and energy.

My job was to get as much into organized piles for disposing.

I know many of the workers from Motor City Connect    Read more blogs and find out about this organization

For information on the Blight Busters click on the photo below.

We formed teams while working with volunteers that we never met before.

The men piled the brick on the edge of the "house" and I would pitch them in a pile for reclamation.

This was hard dirty work. Will I do it again?    You bet.

One more house down and many more to go.

Fisher Body Craftsman Guild - 2008 reunion

Fisher Body Craftsman Guild - 2008 reunion

The General Motors Craftsman's Guild, an auto design competition, was sponsored by the Fisher Body Division of General Motors.  The original competition was to build Coaches based on the Fisher Body Emblem.

Clicking on the below image opens up a photo album containing all the pictures from the event

Fisher Body Coach Winner

The competition later encouraged teenagers to build scale models of their dream cars.

 Paul Tatseos winner

The competition for Dream Cars was from the late 1930's thru 1968 and it provided thousands of scholarships to the winners.  My husband, Paul Tatseos, won three times on different levels of the competition giving him a good start on his education at the Art Center College of Design in California.  He went on to work at General Motors Design Staff, in Warren Michigan, as did many of the other competitors.   Other winners went to other auto companies, industrial design, engineering, medicine and many other careers.

August 2008 is the 100th anniversary of Fisher Body and a re-union of the winners and their cars was put together at the Museum of Fine Arts  in Boston.  Approx 60 winners, many who have never met before, brought their cars to the museum for public showings.

The turnout was far more than I expected.   Hundreds of people, over the weekend, viewed the cars and talked to their creators.

Clicking on the below image opens up a photo album containing all the pictures from the event

One young man was so enthralled with the designs that he was allowed to hold my husbands cars.

boy holding award carboy looking at award car

His father said You and Paul really made all the difference for my sons experience there. By the end of the day he was totally comfortable going up and talking to some of the guys about the models they built and what they did later in their life. He's still a little young to appreciate what the men in that room have done but I'm not and I would love it if you passed on to Paul that as soon as we got home we went down in the basement and pulled out a 5 pound bag of clay and started to sculpt a "Dream Car".  You both made a very memorable day for a wide eyed little boy and these pictures are going to send him over the top.

I would like for all of those interested to know that there are still young people out there who want to learn what only they can teach them. In my profession I work very hard to keep the tradition of "Craftsman and Apprentice" alive and I hope to see some of that carry on here. Even in financially challenging times the one thing you can't afford not to have is creativity. Hopefully we can even spark an interest to bring the contest back to life for some kids in the future.

Thanks again

jimi

Women Council of Realtors RegionII Retreat

The conference was a wonderful success.  Our speakers were the best in the industry.

Debbie Battersbywas great motivational speaker.  We learned how to break the barriers that stop us from doing what we want to do.  Half way thru the session we were chopping boards with our bare hands.

The Internet Savvy Consumer was presented by Amy Chorew.  Absolutely the best.   Luckily for me she's always available with advice and support right here on active rain. We learned so much about cameras, post Real Estate Tours on the web, you tube and photo story just to name a few.  You want more information?? Hire her.  She's great.

Ted Soltys   with The Family Love Letter gave us so much good information on how we can help our families and clients prepare for what's going to happened to us all.  There are only two things in life and are guaranteed   Death and Taxes.   He didn't help with taxes and did show us how we and our clients can prepare for death.

Terry Watson came to us straight from Califoria's conferences.  He had us glued to our seats with all the information that he gave us. PMN is our newest Real Estate designation with WCR.  Not only did he fill is in on our courses he entertained us

We had time for networking, playing and learning.  Very good conference

The conference was held at the fantastic Eaglewood Resort in Itasca, Il.
